GENERAL TRAVEL AND LODGING INFORMATION

TO LINCOLN AND AGHS/WARD ALUMNI AND FRIENDS

Class Reps please pass this site information on to your classes as soon as possible if you have not already done so.   Please mail a copy to those who do not have Internet access.
It's time to get your Reunion 2011 travel plans defined!!     The ACSAA has made arrangements with the Ole Travel Agency in Burlingame,  CA to handle our Reunion 2011 group travel needs.   They specialize  in South American travel.  We realize that not everyone will desire to take advantage of these opportunities and may wish to make their own travel and lodging arrangements.  .     Ole Travel has designed some special travel opportunities at great value to our alumni BUT TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE AS SOME OF THE AIR FARE AND LODGING OPPORTUNITIES ARE ON HOLD FOR ONLY A LIMITED PERIOD.   Please visit the following links below to get started OR those without Internet access can call for OLGA ALEXANDER  or RENZO  at 1-800-559-5192.  Other agents can also take care of you if they are not available.  Just mention the ACSAA group.   Email contact is acsaa@ole.travel

www.ole.travel/buenosaires   . This link leads to the others at  www.ole.travel/acsaa   and www.ole.travel/acsaapackages

There is a booking form available for you to input your travel needs.     The information below will be helpful in your planning.

If you are interested in renting an apartment, the following website, which a number of alumni have already used,  can give you some good leads  http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/south-america/argentina

General Travel Window-  The general travel window to encompass the reunion activities is @  March 20-March 28.  This will allow several days in Buenos Aires and cover the three Reunion 2011 related activities at Lincoln School on the weekend:  a Lincoln School 75th Anniversary afternoon Open House and evening reception on Friday March 25,  a dinner banquet on Saturday evening March 26,  and a family day asado on Sunday March 27.     For those who wish to take side trips to other parts of Argentina or other countries, it is suggested these be scheduled in before or after the reunion week.   Trying to schedule in a side trip during the week would take away @ 3 days from Buenos Aires related group activities and would only work for those planning an extended stay in the country.    The intent is to form groups of alumni to go to other destinations and take advantage of group pricing.    THAT  IS WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO COMPLETE YOUR BOOKING FORM ONLINE NOW!    More side trip pricing can be added as needed.   Those who do not have Internet access should call the Toll Free number.
Air Fares-    There were some contract rates posted earlier but they are currently expired and not available at this time. Contract rates require  a deposit of @ 10% up front and full payment @ 60-65 days before departure.   They are higher than some other available Internet "Q" fares that you might find,  but keep in mind that those are NON-REFUNDABLE and carry many restrictions and there are only a limited number on each flight and many are already sold out even this far in advance.    The LAN Chile fares are particularly attractive as you can add on an extra destination in Argentina for significantly less than it would cost you to purchase a separate ticket.
Hotels-  Several options are shown  including two in the  3-4 star category and one in the 5 star category.   These are exceptionally good values in that they include  taxes (@ 21%) and usually breakfast. Airport transfers  and a City Tours quoted separately.    Although our initial  larger hotel booking blocks expired in October ,  Ole travel has arranged an extension for a smaller number of rooms until late January 2011.  Check their website shown above for some good value deals on lodging and travel.
The 4 star hotels listed are close together.    We have other hotel options being considered also.    The standard stays  shown are 4 days and 3 nights,   or 8 days and 7 nights but add on days are quotes at reasonable rates per person.

Reciprocity Fees-  For your information, in late 2009  Argentina started charging an entry fee for all passengers arriving with US passports through EZEIZA airport only.   This fee  is currently $140 and is consistent with what the US charges for Argentine citizens planning to visit the US.   Please keep in mind this expense when planning your travel.

Reunion Registration Fees-   The Reunion 2011 registration package was sent out by email in mid November .    Fees are  $75 for the dinner banquet and $25 for the asado, with  a price break for children under a certain age.   The Lincoln School hosted reception will be free.
Please try to get most of your travel questions answered by Ole Travel.   We are exploring arrangements for a separate estancia day visit @ March 24th which we are arranging ourselves.
